May 6, 2009 (China Knowledge) - China is working on a stimulus plan for the new energy industry and will release it soon, the Shanghai Securities News reported on Tuesday, citing authoritative sources.

The new plan aims to increase the total installed wind power capacity in the country to between 100 million kw and 150 million kw by 2020, said Shi Pengfei, vice director-general of the wind power commission under the Chinese Renewable Energy Society (CRES).

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the nation's top economic planning agency, has already drafted a plan, said Wang Mengjie, vice president of the CRES.

Reports indicated that new energy projects will gain significant support from the government.
