May 8, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Hong Kong stocks fell on Friday morning, with the benchmark Hang Seng Index opening 68.58 points lower at 17,149.31.

The Hang Seng China Enterprise Index, which tracks the overall performance of 43 mainland Chinese state-owned enterprises on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, opened 24.56 points lower at 9,872.37.

CNOOC Ltd<0883><CEO> declined 2.24% to HK$9.56. China Oilfield Service Ltd<601808><2883> slid 2.41% to HK$7.67. Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co Ltd<600688><0338><SHI> climbed 0.37% to HK$2.71. CNPC (Hong Kong) Ltd<0135> slipped 1.93% to HK$4.06.

Sinopec<600028><0386><SNP>, the largest refiner in Asia by capacity, fell 1.43% to HK$6.18. PetroChina<601857><0857><PTR>, the country's largest oil producer, declined 2.00% to HK$7.82.
